Our visit to the prison was indeed a fruitful one beginning with the preparation to the visitation.
Our visit was preceded with various run around trying to ensure things were properly put in place prior to our visit.
The Prison visiting team ensured our relief Items were bought and transferred to the prison through the assistance of Fr. Justin Mbaeri who was equally present on the day of our Visit.
We were limited to the use of phone hence the photos taken before entering the prison premises and leaving the prisib premises.
Our Items were moved to the chapel by some officials, which were shared amongst them by the Catholic inmates after the Mass.
The Holy Mass was celebrated by Our Spiritual Director; Rev. Fr. Justin Chinaka Mbaeri, OSJ.
The inmates participated fully in the Mass handling the roles of the lector, Choristers and Altar servers.
It was beautiful watching them handle these role freely even though they had lost their freedom.
Fr. Chinaka's words were very comforting and encouraging as he ask that they constantly remind themselves that God has a special reason for each of them regardless of their present predicament and challenges.
Another touching moment was the sharing of the cause of their arrest.
It was emotional as some members cried while others altered words of encouragement.
At the end of the sharing, confessions and discussion, the items of relief were displayed; the edibles were shared to all present while the Catechist assured us of a gradual communal use of the other items.
Below are some of the photos taken on the visit day;
We thank God for a successful outreach and the constant effort of our Spiritual director; Rev. Fr. Justin Mbaeri, OSJ, his Assistant Rev. Fr. Toby Ndiukwu and the entire planning committee of the 2025 Outreach team.
Long live OCCF
